Who says you cant take photo's at Birmingham NS ? I had no problems taking these on several visits

2 visits to the East Lancashire Railway when only a one train in steam service operates between Bury Bolton St and Rawtenstall
Another visit will have to made to do the Heywood branch.

A collection from Oxford Rd, Piccadilly, and Victoria stations in Manchester

Quick visits to Moorgate to get photos of the 1710 Moorgate to Bedford on the 23rd Feb and then again on 17th March after travelling the line on the 1905 from Farrindon a service that will cease on the 20th March 2009 with the Thameslink improvement works.

The 6 remaing 508 units in service for South Eastern were placed in warm storage from the start of the December 2008 timetable.

This collection is mainly of photo's taken at Tonbridge and a few along the Redhill line before the timetable changes in December which has transferred this line to the Southern. Up until this change the line enjoyed a half hourly service alternating between Tunbridge Wells to Horsham and London Bridge. Now due to the Brighton line timetable changes most trains only run between TN and RH on an hourly off peak service.

Southern and FCC services run on this route and also Southeastern services ran until the December timetable changes.

Mixed traction at this event reflecting on the change from steam to diesel

A nice day out at the South Devon railway's autumn diesel gala so good to get an event this late in the year and running on a friday as well, as engineering work on the saturday in Kent and on the GW mainline would have made it not worthwhile to make the journey.
The friday event had a 1960's feel with Class 37 No D6737 and the 3 car Class 127 DMU in passenger service. Class 25 D7612 was on freight duties.
The weather was changeable with a few showers which added to my enjoyment of getting photo's in different lighting conditions. The DMU cab view photo's were taken between Totnes and Staverton.

On a daytrip to Totnes for the South Devon diesel gala I arrived on the 0730 from Paddington and was lucky that a Serco test train hauled by 31 601 was stopped in the down through road shortly after I arrived.

A short visit in the rain after work to Chatham Historic Dockyard Railway my 3rd visit here for their steam demonstration frieght trains in contrasting weather conditions to previous visits but this was the attraction today to get some steam in the rain photo's. I could only get there for the last of the train movements of the day so photo's 17-32 are of 'Annie' propelling the wagons to their usual berthing place and by then the rain was really heavy so some of the photos are quite dark but it was worth the short visit as I have a one year validy ticket.

A short trip to Crystal Palace with its impressive station building and some photo's of this Southern line which connects at Beckenham Junction with Southeastern services, the Croydon tramlink also terminates at Beckenham Jct and will be the subject of a future trip and collection

These photo's taken at Tunbridge Wells no's 01-60 and by the road bridge near High Rocks 61-92. Though I didnt actcually travel on the railway on this visit I spent well on dvds in the shop and at the class 37 society stand at Tunbridge Wells. The shop is always worth a visit for the latest in books and dvds.

Two afternoon visits to Chatham Hisoric Dockyard whem steam freight demonstration trains were in operation during the Scammell vehicle weekend. The whole of the line through the historic dockyard from the main entrance by the Dockyard retail outlet through the yard and down to Albion wharf was in use.

Chatham Dockyards two saddle tank engines were in steam at this 1940's event of military vehicles and renactment societies.
A demonstraction frieght train ran on the small line in the dockyard and included a fire on the train which was extinguished by the 1940's fire engine. Other photographs at the Salute to the 40's event of the military vehicles and steam road vehicles can be seen at my Museums gallery .

Intensive service and double heading on this gala day

A two train though infrequent service on the IOW Steam Railway I arrived at Smallbrook Jct unable to find details of timetable for this event on website or when I arrived and had to phone for information,a train arrived as per the information from my phone call, I alighted at Haven Street to see the WW2 vehicles and renactment persons. Even there no details of the train service but found out by announcement of next train to Wootton which was 90 minutes after I arrived ! The WW2 vehicles in the adjacent grassed area were of intrest to pass the time, also of intrest was the shunting of stock to a siding and loco's shunting to depot to be coaled and watered, A freight train was also brought out from a siding before I caught the next train to Wootton and was able to see the actors in Renee's Cafe' tent before catching a bus to Ryde
